WAVES GETS A BIG THUMBS UP
FROM ECOTOURISM AUSTRALIA |
|
|
‘As one of only two reef
operators to have been awarded
an Advanced ECO Accreditation at
the inception of the
certification program back in
1998, Wavelength Managing
Director, Steve Simpson, was all
smiles when he received the
official thumbs up for a renewal
of Wavelength's certification.
Renewal of the certification
came after a gruelling
operational review conducted by
Ecotourism Australia, "As a reef
operator we have always been at
the forefront of environmental
concerns so I was fairly
confident we would meet the
criteria, however the standards
are now much higher than they
were when we first went through
the process in '98". Steve went
on to congratulate Eco-Tourism
Australia on the tougher stance
and looks forward to future
reviews on a yearly basis. |

|
Ecotourism Australia states that
the ECO Certification program is its
flagship program and was recently reviewed
to include comprehensive additional criteria
directly applicable to marine tourism
operators. In the development process to the
ECO Program version III, the Association of
Marine Park Tourism Operators (AMPTO) draft
scheme was also used to expand coverage of
marine issues.
Marketing Consultant to Wavelength, Melinda
Forsythe, said that even though a recent
customer survey indicated that the Advanced
Eco-Accreditation Certification had the
least influence on a customer decision to
travel with Wavelength, this pioneering
company would always endeavour to uphold its
certification because it represented the
core values of Wavelength Reef Charters. |

IT'S THE SILLY SEASON
PORT DOUGLAS STYLE |
|
|
No we're not talking the
traditional English silly season
that encompasses Royal Ascot,
Henley Royal Regatta and copious
amounts of Pimms! This is the
time of year we grab
a damp towel and a mouldy pair of
togs and make the most of the
Wavelength 'freebies'….opps, I
mean 'famils' that are on offer.
Over the next month will be
inviting you to join other small
groups of local agents to join
us on Wavelength for a series of
hosted famils. Each day we'll be
monitoring the weather and
picking the best days possible.
If you have never been on
Wavelength
then you are in for
a very rare reef experience. If
you have been out with us before,
then you'd know it's worth
another day out. So come
and get a
little silly with us and at the
same time boost your product
knowledge for the coming season. |

UNIQUE
CREW MEMBER WANTED |
|
|
Being a very unique reef
operator, it stands to reason
that when it comes to recruiting
new crew members we'd be
looking for people
equally
unique. We are currently seeking
a qualified Marine Biologist to
join our crew. The successful
applicant will be
a confident and
motivated self-starter and used
to working in a team
environment. He or she must be
keen to take ownership of the
key customer service,
educational, research and deck
tasks that are critical to the
Marine Biologist/Deckhand role
on Wavelength.
If this sounds like you or someone you know,
why not give Steve Simpson a call on 07 4099

SALES
UP FOR JAN 2006
|
|
|
Thanks to increased online
bookings and a group of very
supportive local agents,
Wavelength has recorded an
increase in the number of people
choosing to travel with
Wavelength in January 2006 compared to
January 2005. Talks with some key
local tour sales agents
indicates that this trend may be
due to travellers seeking tours
with small numbers. A recent
customer survey would
bear this out. The top
three reasons people chose
Wavelength are: 1)
Small numbers,
2) Services dedicated to Snorkellers
and 3)
Diversity and quality of sites
available. Thanks again to all
those who continue to support
operators that are offering a
point of difference. |
